The Importance of Closing Sales!

Hello everyone, welcome to my little corner if the internet AKA your go to blog for all things photography related! The purpose for these blogs is to provide you with tips, tricks, inspiration, and peel back the curtain to show the business side of things. From aspiring photographers to professionals all are welcome to take a seat, grab a drink, and read a few things I’ve learned on my photography journey, that hopefully can help you!

For my first ever blog post I wanted to help anybody who might have trouble booking with clients. You can offer a client a great offer, a great experience, you can even make them fall in love with you, so what’s the problem? Let’s talk about it

One of the things I’ll admit that I’ve had happen before is having an email inquiry sent to me, we meet up for coffee, and sometimes I don’t hear a follow-up. Maybe you can relate because it happens. Unfortunately, I would miss booking with possible clients and had no clue what I was doing wrong. After going through my MKTG1160 class and studying about how to become a better salesperson, it hit me. The problem was that I wasn’t asking the most important question! I wasn’t asking the customer if they wanted to make it official and book with me!

The fact is they got in contact with you so don’t second guess yourself, they’re interested, THEY WANT YOU TO ASK! However, you must ask them the correct way. You can’t be plain and ask “Do you want to book with me?” Add some pazaz to it and instead try asking, “Now that we got the details out the way, are you ready to make it official?” “How about I send the contract and invoice, and we can cross, finding a photographer, off your to-do list!”

Trust me the first time you do it, it might feel weird because it’s not been practiced before. But once you get into the habit of it, it’ll be smooth sailing after that.

I hope you found this post helpful and can apply it to your business, if you have positive results feel free to reach out and let me know! I would love to hear from readers what they hope to see in the future and connect with you lovely people. Remember to eat good food, drink water, and I’ll see you next time. :)
